Introduction

PawTimer is operated by PawTimer LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), a limited liability company registered in Albany, New York, United States. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our mobile application, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information: your name and email address when you create an account. You may sign in with Google or Apple, in which case we receive the basic profile information those services provide.

Pet profiles and care records: information you enter about your pets, including name, breed, birth date, gender, weight history, vaccination and preventive treatment dates, vet visit records, allergies, medications, insurance details, microchip number, and grooming and feeding activity.

Walk and activity data: the duration, distance, and timing of walks you record, and the activity scores we calculate from them.

Location: precise location while you record a walk, so we can measure distance and progress, and to retrieve local weather. We collect location only while the app is recording a walk or when you request weather. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app continues to work without it.

Photos and video: images and videos you choose to attach to pet profiles or moments. We access your photo library only for the items you select.

Usage and device information: device model, operating system, app version, crash diagnostics, and how you use features in the app.

Advertising identifiers: if you use the free version, our advertising partner may access your device advertising identifier. On iOS this requires your permission first.

We do not intentionally collect special category or sensitive personal information about you. Information you enter about your pets is not human health information.

While a walk is recording, its elapsed time, distance, pet names, and nearest street name appear in a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, and on a paired Apple Watch. This stays on your device and is not sent to us, but note that it is visible without unlocking your phone.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to create and maintain your account; to record walks and calculate activity scores and reminders; to generate the written insights described below; to send notifications you have enabled; to respond to support requests; to diagnose crashes and improve the product; to process subscriptions; and, in the free version, to display advertising.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Legal Bases for Processing

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases. To perform our contract with you: operating your account, recording walks, calculating scores, and providing premium features. With your consent: access to precise location, your photo library, push notifications, and advertising tracking, each of which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings. For our legitimate interests: securing the service, diagnosing crashes, and improving the product. To comply with a legal obligation: responding to lawful requests and keeping records we are required to keep.

AI-Generated Insights

Some of the written summaries and suggestions in the Insights panel are produced with the help of a third-party artificial intelligence service.

To produce them we send a limited, structured summary of information the app has already worked out, such as your pet's name, approximate age and breed; the activity score and the measures behind it, including how long and how often you walked on each day of the period; and care records and reminders, such as an overdue vaccination date or how long it has been since the last vet visit.

We do not send your GPS routes or coordinates, your photos, your email address, or your account identifiers.

Our provider is contractually prohibited from using this content to train its models. The generated text is stored alongside your pet records so it can be shown again without being produced a second time, and is deleted when you delete your account.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the advertising identifier use described below.

We share information only with service providers that help us operate the app, in the following categories: cloud hosting, authentication, and file storage; analytics and crash reporting; artificial intelligence text generation, as described above; advertising, in the free version; weather, which receives approximate coordinates but not your identity; and sign-in providers, if you choose to use them.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we will give you notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Advertising

The free version of PawTimer shows advertising supplied by a third-party advertising partner, which may use your device advertising identifier to limit repetition and measure performance. On iOS we ask your permission before any tracking occurs, and declining does not restrict your use of the app. Premium subscribers see no advertising.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account remains active. You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings. Deletion permanently removes your account, pet profiles, activity and walk records, uploaded media, and generated insights from our systems, and cannot be undone.

Copies may persist for a short period in encrypted backups before being overwritten, and we may retain limited records where we are legally required to do so.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls that limit your records to your own account. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to export it in a portable form, to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent you have previously given.

You can delete your account and its data directly in the app. For any other request, contact us at support@pawtimer.com and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

PawTimer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Data Transfers

We use cloud infrastructure that may process and store your information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer safeguards, such as the European Commission standard contractual clauses.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here and change the "Last Updated" date above. If the changes are significant, we will give you notice in the app before they take effect.
